Are you caught up in a cycle of addictive behaviors such as substance misuse, gambling, or the Internet? I have good news and bad news for you. Let’s start with the bad news: it takes a lot of effort to stop addictive behaviors, and to address the underlying emotional or trauma issues that compel you to relapse over and over again. There’s no magic wand, no Abracadabra. Now the good news: The cycle doesn’t have to be endless. Recovery is possible!

I have 26 years experience working in the addictions and mental health treatment field and have worked in a variety of settings. I authored a workbook on Mindfulness-Based Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. I also specialize in behavioral addictions like gambling and the Internet, as well as addressing trauma that can perpetuate addictive behavior.

My approach is eclectic, client-centered, empathic, and goal-directed. My priority is to help folks either still struggling with addiction or beginning the recovery journey. I can help you chart a path to sobriety and wellness, and to address the underlying reasons behind addictive behavior. I offer virtual appointments as well as in-person appointments.

I developed an approach I call Mindfulness-Based REBT, which means we become aware of our thoughts, feelings and behaviors moment-to-moment.  I also use a variety of trauma-informed approaches as sometimes things have happened in our lives that make it hard to get a handle on what is going on with us, including our tendency to use alcohol, drugs or other addictive behaviors.  I believe recovery requires healing and I want to help you pursue that path.

I grew up with the Golden Rule:  Treat others the way you want to be treated yourself.  We all come from many different backgrounds and walks of life, but we human beings have much in common.  We develop addictions.  We have things that have happened to us that impact our Here and Now existence.  But based on the Golden Rule, my commitment to you is that I will do everything I possibly can to help you heal, grow and learn to thrive.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or Service.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
